The New Year Honours List has been announced, with DJ and visual artist Goldie, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and the multi-talented Idris Elba receiving recognition for their achievements.
Golide, whose real name is Clifford Price, has received an MBE for his recording, film and charity work whilst Damon Albarn has been awarded an OBE for his services to music (check him out in action with Blur below).
Luther and The Wire actor Idris Elba has been given an OBE accolade for his services to drama, although we reckon the Queen secretly quite liked his spin on Skepta's 'Shutdown'.
Elba said: "Award and honours come in all shapes and sizes and all as significant as the other. But this is beyond special as it comes from Queen and country, and I couldn’t be more proud for receiving this right now. What a year. On me head son!’
A total of 1,196 people are on the list. Over three quarters of the recipients are who have undertaken work in their local community. View the full New Year Honours list.
