As expected, Gorilla have released an Autumn line up of epic proportions. As one of Manchester's not so hidden gems, it houses some of the biggest artists from across the musical spectrum, and the September and October listings are sure to get some mouths watering.
Gorilla is located just below a railway viaduct near Oxford Road, the inner city positioning makes it a hot spot for local students, but the substance and variety of events listed brings crowds in from far and wide.
Things are kicking off this Friday (September 19th) with the second event from the newly launched house and techno night, Shaped, who welcome ingenious duo M.A.N.D.Y for special 4 hour set. The following day disco don Greg Wilson (check out his Essential Mix below) will be hosting part of his Super Weird Happenings series, an 8 hour long event featuring live art, visuals and a Blind Arcade live performance.
Start your weekend early with some funk, disco and edits on Thursday 25th September courtesy of Stevie Wonderland Presents with Andres headlining. Mahogani signed Andres will be serving up a helping of boogie and butt shaking tunes alongside Dan Shake.
26th September will see a Gold Teeth special at Gorilla. The organisers always bring the party and ensure that the ears of attendees are blasted by a selection of rap, house, funk and rock. The Horrors are set to replace their guitars with decks when they for Luminous Disco on 27th September.
Onto October, and Phil Taggart presents Slacker. The Radio 1 DJ created the night to showcase some of his favourite artists, and joining him on the 3rd of the month is Jakwob, Mella Dee and Dutch Uncles. On Saturday 4th October Thee Cool Cats will be headed to Manchester for Kooky. The duo are signed to Amine Edge & Dance's label Cuff among other top dance music imprints. Gorilla's regular club night Juicy will take place on 10th October.
On Saturday 11th October, Gorilla will be hosting a SuperJosh fundraiser. The money that goes to the SuperJosh charity helps children with brain tumours and post surgery disabilities. Club night Coded Rhythm show Gorilla what they're made of the week after on 17th October with a line up featuring rave legend Nightmares On Wax.
Pint-sized garage star Monki takes center stage on 18th October as part of her Monki & Friends tour with a little help from Mak & Pasteman and Mele (check out a track from the Monki & Friends EP below). On 24th October Gorilla will host their own free residents party, ideal for any of you struggling for cash before payday.
Melodic house producers Bondax are set to play a four20 event at the club on 25th October. The Lancaster duo have took the music scene by storm and their distinctive summery sound has gained them a massive following of fans. On 31st October Covert are hosting a Halloween special with Infinity Ink aka Ali Love and Luca C. Manchester trio Pirate Copy will also be joining them.
