Hacienda lovers, you have everything to get excited about because an armada of Madchester legends fronted by the Happy Mondays are playing a one off gig on Friday 25th July at the Palace Hotel in Manchester.

For the people of the city and from miles around the Hacienda provided a spiritual home to many, spearheading their musical golden and leaving a legacy that provided a stepping stone for some many artists old and new who exist in this modern day.

The Happy Mondays led by Shaun Ryder are one of the hallmarks of this period of time. For many Mark Berry's (Bez) maracas symbolise a band who have sold circa 350,000 copies of their most notable album Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches which went platinum, and spawned the iconic track 'Step On' (below).

Wth tickets a £100 it's not cheap, but the performance is in aid of Chico, the 12 year old son of the bands founder and guitarist Paul Ryder, who is currently recovering from Rhabdomyosarcoma. The gig entails a black tie dinner ball and auction, and they'll be joined by Hacienda legends Graeme Park and Peter Hook. More info here.
