How to get to the Wickerman Festival

Because the Wickerman Festival is so great and beautiful with fresh air, rolling hills and all that jazz, it does have a small downside that it's not exactly in the city centre.

Because the Wickerman Festival is so great and beautiful with fresh air, rolling hills and all that jazz, it does have a small downside that it's not exactly in the city centre. More, middle of nowhere.

Don't whatever you do, let this stop you. The fest is bloomin fantastic for a reason, and if that requires a bit more effort than usual to get to, well its worth that bit more effort.

The most obvious way of getting there (but not most environmentally friendly) is of course the car. It carries your stuff for you and can be parked a short walk from your tent. If you use a Tom Tom or other similar sattelite device, pop in the postcode DG6 4QW and well, if you can't see the festival within a couple of miles I suggest you change the batteries in the GPS. For those without fancy toys, the festival site is between Dundrennan and Auchencairn on the A711, near Kircudbright, off the A75.

If you haven't got a driving license or would prefer a bit of an adventure, you have a number of options.
Happybus.co.uk will be running a number of buses from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and will run them from alternative locations depending on demand. Be sure to drop them an email from the site (www.happybus.co.uk) and see if there is something to suit you.

Thetrainline.com is a good way of looking up trains, with Dumfries your nearest stop. It's not far from the main line at Carlisle, and there will be shuttle buses from Dumfries Railway Station. if you can make it as far as Kircudbright or Castle Douglas, there will be shuttle buses running from there also.

For those after lift shares or similar, we suggest you visit the message board and hook up with like minded people looking to share. You can find that at www.skiddle.com/forum and click the Wickerman Festival link.

See you there! Tickets available from www.skiddle.com/tickets/ or by calling Sel on 07729 464 878 for cash transactions in Carlisle.
