Chay Woodman

Date published: 6th Mar 2007

The glorious ILL NINO, our favourite Latino-Metal band have recorded their fourth album - a KILLER long-play crammed with anthems-to-be, equal in energy and passion to the tracks that earned them critical acclaim, a huge world-wide fanbase and two consecutive hit albums but new in approach. ILL NINO retain what makes them unique - the Latin / Tribal drums, Salsa influenced bass, Astounding stage energy and thunderous Latin-tinged metal riffs but move their style and vision on with the ever changing heavy music scene..

You'll have to wait patiently until June for the new album 'ENIGMA' being release via Cement Shoes / Soulfood for the UK but meantime you can catch a glimpse of what's to come when the band hit a town near you with Drowning Pool..

"ENIGMA" In Stores 19th July 07...On Cement Shoes Records/Soulfood

ILL NIÑO's Latin roots run bloody and deep. As original and refreshing as their sound is, they're nearly impossible to describe: Spanish lyrics, flamenco guitars, Latin tribal drums and percussion, Salsa-infused bass lines, and thunderous Latin Metal riffs. New Jersey/New York born ILL NIÑO formed in late 1999 and became the epitome of Latin Metal in 2001 with their monster debut album, Revolution, Revolución. Strong airplay for their first single "What Comes Around" and slots on both Ozzfest, and Jagermeister tours in 2002, helped the album sell nearly 410,000 units worldwide. In 2003 ILL NIÑO returned with their sophomore release Confession and managed to surpass their debut sales, selling over 500,000 copies worldwide. The success of Confession also spawned the hit single "How Can I Live" which was the first single to break into the Billboard charts, peaking at #26 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and also becoming the featured single on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack & film. The sextet's relentless touring with the likes of Godsmack, Sevendust, Korn, and Linkin Park established ILL NIÑO as one of the most lethal live bands of the decade.

Awaiting the arrival of "One Nation Underground" (2005), and equipped with the highly acclaimed single "What You Deserve," ILL NIÑO landed No. 1 Most Added track at Active Rock radio, four weeks prior to the album's release! In typical ILL NIÑO fashion the band sets out on a 16 month world tour, which included U.S. and European festivals with the likes of Disturbed, Static X, Guns & Roses and Avenged Sevenfold. In the last decade, Latin artists have continued to grow and break new ground, ILL NIÑO is the result of this. A bilingual hybrid that has discovered the perfect blend between Hispanic flavors and Metal styles. ILL NIÑO will release their highly anticipated fourth full-length titled "Enigma" through Cement Shoes/Soulfood worldwide on June 19, 2007.
