Archie Hamilton, not to be confused with the racing driver of the same name, is one of London's finest techno producers. Honing a sound that fits in nicely with the quirky, hypnotic output of the FUSE crew, Hamilton's productions have been a revelation - his deep, rolling basslines and scuffling, bold use of percussion and fragmented samples have been rinsed across the UK and Ibiza.
His DJing skills too have been summoned by HYTE's Ibiza season at Amnesia repeatedly this year where he returns on September 28th to join Subb-An for a heavily tipped blow out. He also arrives at Manchester's freshest venue Hidden on September 17th ,once again alongside the One Records boss.
Ahead of all that, we caught up with FUSE Records' man of the moment (listen to his Fuse mix below) to get the inside track on the hallowed White Isle midway through another sweltering season.
Where do you stay on the island when you're there and why?
With friends as much as possible! It’s nice to be able to have our own space.
What makes Ibiza so special?
It’s one of the main arteries of the world, and it has the most amazing energy. So many fiends are there doing so many amazing things - it’s a very inspiring place.
Where are your favourite places to eat?
La Bodega in Ibiza Town for tapas, Fish Shack in Talamanca for fish, Es Cuco in Cala Tarida for chicken, La Dolce Vite in Playa d'en Bossa for Italian.
And the best places to go out?
For big clubs, Amnesia, and for small clubs, Underground.
Who do you think will be the star of the season this year?
FUSE X Hyte obviously!
Where is the best place to watch the sun set and rise on the island?
Sunset Ashram for sunset. Dalt Villa is pretty spectacular at sunrise.
For someone about to come to Ibiza for the first time, what are the three things they must do before their time is out?
See the sunset by Es Vedra on the cliffs above Cala D’Hort, cycle round Formentera and get stranded at a villa after party.
What’s the island's greatest hidden secret?
Ibiza Underground.
What is your fondest memory of your time spent on the island?
My season in 2014 spent living in Cala Vadella. Had some amazing times in that beautiful spot!
And finally, what one bit of advice would you give someone hitting Ibiza for the first time?
Be prepared to change your flight.
