A look at both the Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks showcases in 2013.

The Balearic summer is almost here! Whilst the focus naturally falls on Ibiza there’s also the small matter of Mallorca, and one event that runs parties on both islands begins its ascent very soon.
Sister festivalsIbiza Rocks and Mallorca Rocks are due to kick off next month, with this year’s line-up including the likes of Jake Bugg, Example, Beady Eye and Chase & Status, who will all be taking to the stage inside the giant hotel complexes.
There are 64 mainstream events taking place this year, here’s a short guide to help make your whole “Rocks” experience one to remember. So, ditch the tent and bring the beach towel instead.
Best Event of the Year
It's a tough task detailing which is the best out of a huge set of line-ups, but over in Ibiza July 10th, when Tinie Tempah headlines, looks like it could be the top pick. Since exploding onto the music scene in 2010 he has been no stranger to the festival, having played in 2011 and 2012. With highly anticipated new material to perform, this year will definitely be a straight ten on the Richter scale.
Franz Ferdinand will be making their Mallorca Rocks debut this summer on September 10th. The band has performed at festivals all over the world, and won various accolades including NME awards, a Mercury Prize and a Brit Award for Best British Group. Get ready to celebrate their return to the British music scene.
Best “Warm Up” Bar
The Bucanero Bar is the longest running party bar in San Antonio. With a separate cocktail lounge, pool tables and a BBQ area, it’s a clear favourite amongst the tourists of biza bustling resort.
Over in Mallorca Bonkers Bar’s complimentary shots and banging tunes will certainly get you in the mood for a night on the town. This lively pub is located in the centre of the Magaluf strip and plays everything from electro to funky house and mainstream club classics.
Best Local Beach
Only a short walking distance from the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, you will have the sand between your toes in no time. The beach is 500m long, and has a promenade with plenty of cafés and bars to chill out in. Take part in extreme water sports, or simply lay back and sweat out the hangover from the night before.
The famous Magaluf beach in Mallorca stretches for 900 metres. With white sand and clear blue waters, this is the perfect place for some rest and relaxation before a night out at the Rocks festival. Take your iPod and chill out to your favourite tunes under the scorching Mediterranean sun.
Best Daytime Activity
Take a break from Ibiza's frenetic clubbing scene and enjoy seeing what else the island has to offer on a mountain bike. This is a great chance for you to put your headphones in and discover the beauty of Ibiza with its rugged coastline interspersed with dozens of white sandy beaches and protected areas.
After a night partying at Mallorca Rocks Hotel, there is no better way to spend your day than with some thrills and spills at the Western Water Park. It’s less than a five minute drive from the main strip and there is a free bus service from the centre of Magaluf. The Big Hole water slide will certainly get your adrenaline pumping.
