Cala Conte is one of the islands most renowned sunset spots. Located in the North West Ibiza, you can get to the area fairly easily by car, bus or taxi. We decided to head across via boat from San Antonio which was a good decision in the end as we had a bid of a knowledgeable tour guide who pointed out various places of interest en-route.
From caves that used to hide pirate ships, the beach where parts of Wham’s 'Club Tropicana' were filmed, Jade Jaggar and Kate Moss’ villas and huge yachts owned by the rich and famous. There was a lot to take in.
We arrived at Cala Conta in little under half an hour and we docked in the the little harbour and climbed up some rocky steps. Once at the top of the steps we could see the most gorgeous blue seas for miles. You have to walk down a bit of a steep incline to get to the beach but once you do, the golden sands are pristine with gentle, shallow and crystal clear water.
The beach is small but does have water sports facilities. Hire a pedalo or take a jet-ski for a spin if you’re feeling a little adventurous. There is also a rockier ledge which leads to a more sheltered and private cove where the sea is a little deeper, yet amazingly clean and clear. There are many areas here which are perfect for snorkelling. An ideal time to hit the beach is the early afternoon then just be aware of the tide coming in around 7pm.
Surrounded by gorgeous scenery, including sand dunes and rocky cliffs behind the beach, Cala Conte boasts stunning views of the amazing sunset each night. You may choose to take a front row seat in one of the three restaurants and we would highly recommend Sunset Ashram.
The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. A lot of the tables are set outside so you have the full alfresco dining experience where you can choose from Mediterranean, Hindu and Japanese dishes. Sunset Ashram is also well known for their live music and DJs which will soundtrack your visit perfectly.
