Independent Venue Week recognises the fabulous work the UK's local venues do by taking some time to appreciate some of the best bars, clubs, rave locations, arts venues, and live music spaces we have across the UK. And we’re joining in! This time, we’re taking a look at Nice N Sleazy in Glasgow.

An unquestionable Glaswegian institution and purveyor of a good party, Nice N Sleazy is a place where many a teen has made a fool of themselves on right-of-passage nights out, and many a band who has gone onto bigger things has played. Part pub, part live music venue, part nightclub, the Sauchiehall Street classic has entertained the Glasgow masses for well over three decades, and this Independent Venue Week, they look set to continue the good times and provide a top selection of gigs for the lucky punters who make it through their doors.

The cherished Scottish nightspot is something of a landmark in the city, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a Glaswegian who couldn't give you detailed directions to its door. With rock, indie, dance, and lo-fi being spun, and played live here, almost every night of the week, genre fans will find themselves at home here, but just be wary of the predominantly student crowd. Cheap drinks do that do a place.

If you're after a swanky, modern establishment, then this probably ain't the watering hole for you, come on guys it does have Sleazy in its name. But, what it does have in abundance is a character and a vibe that screams let loose without a care in the world.

The main attraction amongst their IVW lineup is a huge four-band bill of pure indie rock heaven featuring The Rampants, A Bit of Everything, The Cherries, and Runaway Models, plus a free entry into the aftershow party at Firewater down the road. Tickets can be found below. But you can also find more information on this night by clicking or tapping - here

From the day time where it offers up top tier scran - mainly of the burger and milkshake variety - in its upstairs bar area, to the nighttime where live music inhabits its stage and shakes its walls, to late nights on the weekend, where its venue club space opens up to the hordes of Glaswegian party-seekers; Nice N Sleazy is always a vibe.

With an open-minded approach to booking live acts and a proclivity for pushing the very best in the local scene, the 180-cap venue has built up a solid reputation for being one of the very best places in the city to see the next big thing. From local legends like Franz Ferdinand and Mogwai to current international superstars like The National and Imagine Dragons, the list of big names to ply their trade here across its 30-year lifespan is endless.

So, if you live in Glasgow, and are wanting to celebrate one of the city's most iconic independent venues this Independent Venue Week, then there's only one place to go, and that is Nice N Sleazy. The tickets are only just above a tenner, and you'll get to see four bands who could well be headlining festival stages in years to come.
