Standing at the forefront of house music as one of the most notorious collectives to have journeyed the circuit, Flashmob's production - driven by Italian duo Danny and Alessandro still remains as in demand now as their inaugural smash 'Brick House' (below) ever was.
Ever since that release, the duo have continued to gauge the house movement with such precision that they've achieved massive success from every aspect of their work in the studio through to their distinctive house sound.
With the Italian maestros on the verge of bringing another one of their world renowned scintillating live shows to Manchester's Iconic Victoria Warehouse for S2S Festival's huge NYE bonanza, we got inside the heads of the genre trailblazers who let us in on a few secrets, disclosing what they've got coming in the new year amongst a whole bunch of other things.
You're booked in for NYE in Manchester at Victoria Warehouse. You're no strangers to the city, what do you like the most about the Manc crowds?
They are wild and they know the music. We love the city too, it will be a big one.
When you're playing a big milestone event like NYE, do your sets tend to take a different direction?
It depends but I would say it can be a surprise for everyone. Maybe it gets a little harder than usual because we nearly always play later.
It's been a pretty big year for your Flashmob label. What are the pros and cons of having your own imprint?
The pros are that everything comes right back at you directly and you do not have to wait around for big labels that are always very busy.
The cons are that everything you do is in your own time and that you're responsible, so you need to be very careful, especially with doing vinyl - it is a very expensive and risky game.
Can you let us in on any plans for the New Year in regards to the label, or any releases from yourselves?
We have a secret track that Disclosure, Annie Mac and Maya Jane Coles are supporting hugely and we'll be releasing the vinyl first thing in 2015.
The digital version is called 'Don't Leave' and the B side of the Vinyl will have a bonus track that is a remix we did for Chronovision Ibiza and we licensed.
Then we have a remix for DJ W!ld on the W Label for one of his album tracks, a remix for our Berlin friends Lunacity Express on Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour for their anniversary. We have done a remix for Le Roy on VIVa for Steve Lawler and that will be released on vinyl too. Then we have a three track EP on Objektivity using our alias FMOB plus much more.
What other record labels do you look at with admiration, and is there any that have completely inspired what you guys do?
We love Ibadan and just got a remix from Jerome Sydenham on one of our tracks. We like Ibadan, Innervision, Moon Harbour, Hypercolour, Objektivity and many other more underground labels.
What has been the highlight of 2014 for you two?
Certainly joining our new management The Volume Group. They have a great roster with people like Claptone, Bontan and techno star from Minus Matador.
Then I would say mixing the Volume 2 DFTD (catch that above) Compilation for DFTD (Defected’s more underground imprint) and becoming part of Paramount Artists Agency - that also have an incredible roster with names like Carl Craig, Nina kraviz, Darius Syrossian, Sante and Mr. G.
You have the power to throw the ultimate Flashmob party. You can bring in any artists from past or present to join the line up. Who would you pick and where would you host it?
Villalobos, KiNK, Carl Craig, Radio Slave, DJ W!ld, Maya Jane Coles and Matthias Tanzmann at DC10.
