Scotland's Wickerman Festival have announced Manchester Indie legends James as their Friday night headliner on the 22nd July 2011.
With a plethora of sing along hits which stretches over a massive 12 studio albums selling over 25million copies around the world it is sure to be a party like no other as the crowd are asked to "Say Something" or perhaps "Sit Down" - you know what to do!
Jim from James said: “We've heard great things about Wickerman and it's a joy and a privilege to be playing the festival on its 10th Anniversary. Over the years we have enjoyed incredible support from the Scots and have shared in some unforgettable concerts. As our only festival appearance north of the border this year, we expect a party!”
Making a triumphant return to The Wickerman Festival is Emma Gillespie, now known to the world as Emmas Imagination. A friend of the festival, Emma used to work as part of the onsite crew helping decorate the festival with the occasional performance in the Acoustic Village. Things however changed for ever at the end of last year as Emma won Sky 1's "Must be the Music" performing at Wembley Stadium and winning a £100k prize, as well as being signed to Gary Barlow's record label.
From the beautiful to the bizarre, Emma's songs give the listener a momentary window into her vivid imagination. A raw love and passion for music, now tempered by years of travel, introspection and musical experimentation have resulted in an incredible collection of songs, finally coming to life.
Denver based singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff and his band will also make their Wickerman debut this year, playing tracks from their acclaimed album ‘In Memory of Loss’. Raised in rural Missouri, Rateliff’s music retains echoes of country storytelling in its introspective tracks, with shards of guitar rising beneath hushed melodies. Appearing at Wickerman on the back of a European tour and a stirring appearance on BBC Two’s Later… with Jools Holland, Rateliff’s voice “deep and rich and full of intimations of a life well lived” (The Guardian) is causing quite a stir.
With bumper record sales already for July's 10th Anniversary Event be sure to get your ticket quick if these announcements tickle your fancy.
