Jean Michel Jarre, Underworld and Caribou are among the first wave of acts confirmed for spectacular new festival bluedot which takes place in the space-age surroundings of Cheshire's Jodrell Bank.

A strong science theme will run through bluedot festival with Brian Cox and Robin Ince presenting a live edition of The Infinite Monkey Cage radio show from the iconic observatory.

Other acts featuring on the line-up for the festival which lands on Friday 22nd July are Everything Everything, Public Service Broadcasting, Mercury Rev, Steve Mason, British Sea Power, Moon Duo.

The electronic line up will include Erol Alkan and Richard Norris’ electro-house alter egos Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Ben UFO, and DJ Yoda with many more still to be announced.

The presence of French synth innovator Jarre at the top of the bill is a fantastic coup for the new event with the artist famed for his incredible laser-driven live shows at iconic venues like the Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower.
