Jeff Lynne's ELO to play Glastonbury's legends slot

Jeff Lynne's ELO, formally known as Electric Light Orchestra, will take over Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage on the afternoon of Sunday 26th June for the coveted tea-time slot. 

The 'legend slot' appearance, which has previously been appointed to Paul Simon, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie normally garners the biggest crowds of the whole weekend as they gather to listen to old favourites. Some of the biggest ELO songs include 'Mr. Blue Sky' (below), 'Livin' Thing' and 'Sweet Talkin' Woman'.

The British pop-rock group had 27 Top 40 hits from 1972 to 1986 before Lynne quit in 1988. He returned in 2010 under the Jeff Lynne's ELO alias. The band released the album Alone In The Universe late last year and it reached number four in the UK Albums Chart. 

Festival organiser Emily Eavis confirmed the news on Twitter earlier today (read below).
