Released by Rough Trade in the UK on January 23rd "Rabbit Fur Coat", the debut solo outing from Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins, is already garnering a clutch of adoring reviews.
Now Jenny is set to back this up with four low-key UK dates next month. The dates, with tickets on sale now from the respective venues and all usual agents, are as follows;
JENNY LEWIS/ FEBRUARY
8 BIRMINGHAM GLEE CLUB
9 LONDON BUSH HALL
11 MANCHESTER ACADEMY 3
12 GLASGOW MONO CLUB
These will be full-band shows, but are only the prelude to a more significant UK tour due in the spring, all dates to be confirmed next month.
"Rabbit Fur Coat", which features guest contributions from Conor Oberst and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and the gospel harmonising of Kentucky up'n'comers The Watson Twins, features 11 original Lewis songs plus a cover of the Travelling Wilbury's "Handle With Care".
"...superb voice, rampant eloquence, cinematic imagination and a winning way with a good yarn peopled by extraordinary characters. Effortless". (Word, Feb 2006)
"The real stars are Lewis's songs which merge her world-weary musings with an aching voice and a knowing wink". (Q, 4 stars, Feb 2006)
"Celebrating everything in life that doesn't work out. Wonderful stuff". (Uncut, 5 Stars, Feb 2006)
