Acclaimed filmmaker and composer John Carpenter will join Warpaint on this year's Liverpool Music Week programme in October.
He will perform his film scores and new compositions for this marquee headline date; John's cinematic credits include The Thing, Assault on Precinct 13, Escape From New York and Halloween.
Revered for his minimalist craft, Carpenter recently released the follow up to his studio debut titled Lost Themes II. Constructed with no visual accompaniment, the rock-driven album is equally an epic experience as it draws on scintillating string arrangements and retro sounding synths - a wholly expansive sound fitting for Liverpool Olympia's grandiose theatre setting.
On a separate date, LA's Warpaint open the week-long festival at the city's Grand Central Dome Wednesday 26th October with their dreamy art-rock sound. Their sparse atmospherics that spawned hits like 'Love Is To Die' have been put on hold in the studio since 2013, although bassist Jenny Lee Lingberg insists that an album will be released in 2016 - which lends plenty of promise for new material here.
Expect more big announcements from Liverpool Music Week, the city's flagship exhibition of live music that runs for 10 days from 26th October to 5th November in various of its venues.
John Carpenter plays at Liverpool Olympia on Friday 28th October - tickets available from Friday 1st July 9am via the box below.
