Hip hop pioneer KRS-One heads to London and Liverpool in August to pump both venues with some seminal rap.
Emerging from the eighties golden era of hip hop, KRS One made his name as part of Boogie Down productions with D-Nice and DJ Scott La Rock. During that period he helped inspire 'gangsta rap' via the timeless Criminal Minded LP.
Following the murder of DJ Scott La Rock, KRS shifted his wordplay towards social commentary, addressing prominent issues within American politics and society (listen to 'Sound Of Da Police' above). He remains at the forefront of such issues today and just as important to the genre as he was in his infancy.
