The Cumbrian Festival has over the past few years become one of the most loved festivals in the country, growing into one of the undoubted cultural highlights in the north of England, culminating in last year's 'Best Medium Festival' gong at the UK Festival Awards. This year sees the festival get even more ambitious, taking in an exciting and diverse line up of artists and DJs guaranteed to make Kendal Calling 2014 a categorical success.
Heading things up will be the Britpop legends Suede (above), fresh off the back of an almighty resurgence that began with a series of well received reunion gigs beginning in 2010. March last year saw the band release their first new material in 11 years to an ecstatic reception from fans and critics alike. It's profoundly clear that we still can't get enough of the alternative London based five piece, making them an exciting prospect for this year's edition.
Joining them will be folk punk megastar Frank Turner (above), hip hop legends De La Soul, Madchester icons Happy Mondays and indie pop protagonist Tom Odell. Fearsome Belgian duo 2ManyDJs, Johnny Borrell's Razorlight, burgeoning electronic pop outfit Clean Bandit and two times nominee for Best Solo Artist (NME) Miles Kane are just a few of the other highlights.
Yesterdays announcement also threw up an exciting dance music prospect, with Radio One royal Zane Lowe lined up to provide some belting beats and bass at Lowther Deer Park. Gorgon City, James Zabiela, Andy C, Bondax and Goldie are just a few of the other DJing dignitaries primed to tear up Kendal 2014.
There are loads more acts announced, so head here to check out the Kendal Calling line up. Needless to say, Kendal Calling 2014 is set to be absolute riot.
