Shy FX, Benga, Andy C, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Feeder, Shed Seven, Little Roy, Jack Beats, Dodgy, Inspiral Carpets, Utah Saints and Ms Dynamite are just some more of the acts today announced for the eclectic boutique festival in the heart of the Lakes.
With many more acts also revealed, and hundreds more yet to be announced across the 11 stages, 2012's line-up is shaping up to be the strongest and most diverse in Kendal Calling's seven year history.
Often referred to as the 'Glastonbury of the North', Kendal Calling is a colourful, picturesque and well rounded event, with three days of live music, DJs, comedy, spoken word and poetry performed across 11 diverse stages.
Headlining the main stage on the Friday night are the always entertaining Maximo Park, with their angular guitar sounds, arresting melodies and one of the best live shows around. Closing the show on the Saturday night is the one and only Dizzee Rascal, while Sunday night will see legendary Manchester band James take to the stage to round off the weekend's main stage entertainment in suitably epic style.
Taking place at Lowther Deer Park, in what must surely be one of the country's most picturesque festival locations, Kendal is a family friendly escape with a relaxed, bohemian vibe, an inviting programme of weird and wonderful activities, and a touch of fantasy around every corner.
New for this year is the Tim Peaks Diner - a Twin Peaks 50's style diner headed up by The Charlatans' Tim Burgess who has curated a weekend of bands, book readings, DJs and comedians to perform in this unique setting.
Returning for 2012 is the ever popular House Party tent, with tea and biscuits in the kitchen and a debauched dirty disco in the bedroom.
Other stage include the GloW Dance Tent - showcasing everything from disco to drum n bass - The Calling Out New Music stage, the Kayleid tent, the Soapbox featuring an exciting programme of cabaret, burlesque, comedy and spoken word, and the Kendal Calling Real Ale Festival, taking place in the festival's own pub The Holy Quail. There's also a village green, a fantastic kids area, and the Garden of Eden - offering therapists, shisha and a chai cafe.
As well as standard camping, Kendal Calling offers affordable luxury camping in the Emperors' Fields, where you'll find tipis, bell tents, compost toilets, showers and a family friendly vibe. The Emperors' Fields do sell out quickly, so early booking is advised.
