Greg Wilson's latest project has been a favourite of ours all summer (read our lavish review here), and we recently spoke to one of the central tenets of the musical thrust, former Black Grape member and Mancunian survivor Kermit Leveridge.
With the project about to set up off on a mini UK tour, we got the inside musical knowledge on the inspirations behind the recording, with 20 tracks as part of the Spotify playlist which you can stream above and subscribe to here.
All in all it's a brilliantly varied mix, with the dub rhythms of Lee 'Scratch' Perry kicking things off with the leftfield influence felt elsewhere through Kate Bush and Outkast, alongside the classic crooners of Frankie Valli and Sammy Davis Jr.
Personal favourite for us is the inclusion of Edith Piaf's 'Non, Je Ne Regrette rien', the anthem particularly potent considering the brilliantly engrossing life Leveridge has led to date.
The tour will includes dates already announced in Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool and Bristol, with London due to be revealed shortly. The announced dates can be found below:
Manchester date has now passed - read the review here
A Super Weird Happening @ SWG3, Glasgow - Friday 26th September
A Super Weird Happening @ The Island, Bristol - Friday 3rd October
A Super Weird Happening in conjunction with Freeze & Oxjam, Liverpool - Saturday 18th October
