July is a five weekend month, and that means a double figure tally of parties within Sankeys’ hallowed walls, starting with a slamming selection of pumping main room house and effortless techno grooves on Fri 1st and Sat 2nd July.
The first date is aptly also the first of the month, and sees clubbing sensation Kim Fai get the ball rolling. Hailing from the suburban West Midlands hotspot of Tipton, Kim Fai has delivered a series of underground tinged productions that have married the impact of main room house with darker genres, allowing him to stand out effervescently amongst a crowded pack.
He’s already delivered signature remixes of two of the year’s biggest smashes (LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ and Snoop and Far East Movement’s ‘OMG’), preparing for a summer of blustering appearances at Ibiza and key festivals and becoming the man house music’s biggest names call when they need support; the Swedish House Mafia and Deadmau5 all utilising Kim’s grooves at their shows. His appearance at Sankeys will be equally as massive.
Tickets for Thank f*ck it’s Friday with Kim Fai are available here.
One day later and the guests saddling up to Kaluki are of an Italian persuasion, with Romano Alfieri joined by his production partner Marco Effe and hot-shot Luca Bear. Alfieri was the go-to guy for much of the last decade every time Minus or Cocoon threw a party in Italy, his peerless appreciation of the Italian music scene only matched by his understanding of global house and techno.
Luca Bear’s career has hit stratospheric heights since being made resident at the Reflex club in Pisa back in 2006. His brilliant Djing ability was then quickly married to a developing production ethic, with Gregory Thresher’s patronage leading to international recognition and status. And finally, Effe is the production starlet that has been at the forefront of Hawtin, Luciano and Vilalobos’ DJ sets, on account of his stripped back house dripping with funk and gnarling techno cuts, with the trio set to deliver a stunning master class in underground grooves at Sankeys.
