The Knockengorrogh World Ceilidh ramps up its preparations by announcing its first wave of acts lined up to grace this years eagerly awaited world music festival. The hidden away, family friendly Scottish gem has over the years become renowned for its wide ranging, roots flavoured line ups, making it a festival for those with discerning and varied musical tastes. This morning's first wave of announcements further bolster that reputation - fans will not be disappointed.

First in the Galloway festival's sights is Vieux Farke Touré, son of Malian legend Ali Fake Touré. Hailed as one of Africa's most exciting up and coming guitarists, Vieux's brand of enchanting, soulful, uplifting, desert blues has hailed in an exciting emerging talent that has taken the world music circuit by storm.

British dance music legends Coldcut also prepare to join the World Ceilidh. Responsible for founding one of the most important record labels in dance music history - Ninja Tune, Coldcut have brought to the attention of the world artists as pivitol as Amon Tobin, The Cinematic Orchestra, Mr Scruff and Bonobo, as well as turn out a wealth of their own productions and notoriously eclectic mix compilations.

Their Journeys By DJ mix for example is widely regraded as one of the best DJ mixes of all time, taking in everything from trip hop to jungle and abstract house. It's mind bending, thrilling ride - if you've not already heard it, give it a listen below.

Other highlights come in the shape of Glasgow based dub sound system pioneers Mungos' HiFi, Specials main man Neville Staple, dub, hip hop and big beat vanguards Dub Pistols, and critically lauded Scottish folkateers Alejandro & The Magic Tombolinos. Breton based Plantec, Mercury Award nominated Sam Lee and Jazz impresarios's Kan are among the other acts announced - hailing in a supremely strong start for Knockengorroch World Ceilidh's 2014 campaign.
