Kurt Cobain solo album to be released in November

Coinciding with Brett Morgen's forthcoming Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck, Universal Music are set to deliver an entire album of unreleased music from the legendary grunge icon.

The album came to fruition after Morgen spent 'hours upon hours' going through Cobain's personal archives, unearthing a raft of unreleased tracks, which strangely even includes a comedy sketch. Morgen told billboard the album "is curated to feel as though one were sitting in Kurt's living room watching him create over the course of an afternoon."

The album is said to be "a lighter portrait of Kurt than one might expect. You really get a sense of how happy he was simply by creating himself. His lyrics are really playful, and, at times, you can feel his smile and warmth coming through". 

Talking about the tracks themselves, Morgen added "These are all just Kurt by himself with the guitar". "These aren't multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they're extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his process. I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man."
