Launch party for The Hacienda: Threads comes to Manchester in October

Celebrating the launch of The Hacienda: Threads, there’ll be a conversation, book signing, and party with proceeds going to three charities.

In celebration of the launch of the book The Hacienda: Threads by Becky Hook, Manchester’s New Century will see a book signing, conversation, and party on Wednesday 9th October 2024 from FAC51 The Hacienda. 

From its opening night in May 1982 up until its doors closed in 1997, The Hacienda was legendary. And it still is. Hook’s new book covers the music, fashion, people, and more that collided to make The Hacienda what it was: an iconic and defining moment in music history whose legacy continues strong today. 

Told through photographs and eyewitness accounts of the clubbers, musicians, DJs, performers, staff, and fashion designers who were there, the book serves as a celebration of the club. Featuring contributions from Peter Hook, Bez, Noel Gallagher, Rowetta, Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez, and more, it’s sure to give a fantastic and authentic look at the clubbing institution. 

The event will start with DJs and welcome cocktails before the conversation portion of the evening starts, which will see journalist Paul Flynn host joined by the likes of Ang Matthews (Hacienda manager), Peter Hook, Graeme Park, Noel Gallagher, and more. 

Following the conversation, there’ll be an opportunity to buy the book and have it signed by select panel members and the book’s curator Rebecca Hook. Then, since it’s all about The Hacienda, there’ll naturally be a massive party. The night will see DJ sets from Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva (check out our recent interview with him), Guy Williams, Hewan Clarke, Lady Bump, Michelle Kelly, and Peter Hook plus special guests.

Proceeds from the event will be split between three charities: AKT (formerly known as the Albert Kennedy Trust), Mind, and Sarcoma.
