If you've not listened to our latest podcast by now, make sure you do right away. The guest mix comes courtesy of Leftwing & Kody who headline the First Birthday of Manchester clubnight Frank on Friday 7th March, taking place in the underground rave den Underdog.
It's a riot of pulsating house grooves and edgy techno melodies, which gives a great indication of what to expect when the duo make their first appearance in the city at Frank. We grabbed 60 seconds with the duo to discuss what is happening in their immediate future, the thinking behind the mix and what goodness
You've delivered a guest mix for our podcast (above), thanks! tell us about what the mix represents.
This mix represents where we are musically at the moment. There's a real cross section of genres which is how we try and play our sets when we are DJing. We usually play the kinda sound we are known for then venturing into the sound we are moving towards production wise, so keep an ear out for that on our future releases.
You first met when you both DJed on the same bill. Was there an instant chemistry musically?
Pretty much yes. We were both DJ's and producers in our own right when we met and we were supporting each others tracks in our sets. So it made sense to collaborate together as we seemed to be on the same wavelength.
You've recorded on OFF Recordings and are part of their five years celebrations release due out shortly. How big a part of your career to date has the label played?
OFF have played a massive part in our career. Our first EP was signed by Andre Crom (stream below) and being associated with such a prestigious label really helped us make an impact. We never anticipated our first EP doing so well and we believe that being a part of the OFF roster really helped.
You're scheduled to play in Manchester soon, and we understand the last time you played the event sold out. What’s your relationship with the city like, and are you looking forward to hitting the city?
We really love playing in Manchester. I think we were there three times last year and every set was amazing the crowd get really involved and the energy is always spot on! Definitely one of our favourite cities to play.
Where else in the uk have you got dates coming up?
We're playing in London the day after Manchester at a night called Audiowhore then nothing in the UK until the 5th of April when we play Digital Brighton for Nightowl.
How is the summer shaping up for you, have you got any Ibiza or festival news you can let us know about?
Summer is looking good at the moment lots of things in the pipeline festival and Ibiza wise - but we're not allowed to say what yet, sorry. We can tell you that we will be playing at Found Festival in June which we are really looking forward to as we will be sharing the stage with some of our heroes!
And finally, you've landed the ultimate album deal with a record label and they've pretty much said any budget with dream collaborators. Who would you pick, why would you pick them and what would the music end up sounding like?
Wow that's a good question, I think Timbaland as his productions played a major part of us growing up. Booka shade as they are one of our favorite acts of all time and Ame. Again they are up there on our favorite acts, their sound is so emotional and we would love to work with them.
