Lil Wayne's label Cash Money Records has filed a lawsuit against Jay Z's Tidal streaming service for $50 million (£30 million).

Tidal released Lil Wayne's Free Weezy Album exclusively earlier this month but Cash Money is claiming the rights to his music.

The lawsuit describes the release of Free Weezy Album on Tidal as “a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service.”

Tidal announced in June that Lil Wayne was one of the musicians who had signed up with Tidal in an exchange for a share of the company.

This comes after the news that boss of Cash Money Records, Bryan 'Birdman' Williams, and his artist Young Thug were indicted over the shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus. The indictment claimed that Williams, Young Thug and Lil Wayne were members of the Blood gang.
