Hi Linton Festival Group

Well spring is (supposed to be) here and 2 months to go to the Festival! Despite the rubbish weather we are 50% sold so far so looking good. For those of you not too familiar with some of the artists we'll cover some detail on the line up on this and the next 2 emails.

The Union - headliner Friday (21.45). The Union was formed by guitarist Luke Morley and vocalist/guitarist Peter Shoulder after Luke’s twenty-year career with Thunder came to an end in 2009. Their eponymous debut album was released in August 2010 to acclaim from both fans and the critics, and saw the band end the year on a high when they were voted ‘Best New Band’ at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards, where they celebrated in style by performing live to a hall packed with rock royalty. Second album 'Sirens Song' followed in 2011 which was nominated for ‘Album Of The Year’ at Classic Rock Magazine’s 2012 ‘Roll of Honour’. The new album 'The World Is Yours' has just been released Feb 2013 gaining 5 star reviews in the quality press. Their luscious blend of blues/rock and Americana is proving a big success across all age brackets and sell out concerts over the last couple of months will no doubt mean larger venues next time around. Perfect Linton Friday finish!

Larry Miller - Friday (19.45). No stranger to a lot of you, Larry's debut at Linton last year proved a big hit. So much so we had to have him back. After many years in the music business and touring constantly, Larry has built up a large following across the UK and building an ever increasing army of fans in Europe. His status as guitar slinger is becoming legendary with his exciting, mesmerising guitar playing and rip roaring live shows. His engaging personality brings a dimension of showmanship to his performances like no other. One journalist in his review of his latest album stated ” 'Unfinished Business' is the business” and Classic Rock magazine wrote a glowing review of the album, giving it a top five star rating asking “Why isn’t he a superstar?”

Ben Poole Band - Friday (18.15). First appearing at the festival in 2011, he was a big hit. After many emails requesting his return we caved in as who better to open the festival? He is being talked of as “the” new up-and-coming UK Blues guitarist; one of the finest to have emerged in Europe for years. Having already played with, and received critical acclaim from some of his heroes; legendary blues artists including Jeff Beck, (the late) Gary Moore and John Mayall, at just 22 years of age it appears that there is no stopping this young and incredibly gifted musician. His latest recordings reinforce this and make it blatantly clear that Ben is destined for a great future on the European Blues/Rock scene. If you're coming on Friday don't be late!

Mitch Laddie - Saturday (13.00). At the ripe old age of 23 Mitch has become one of the leading torch carriers of the modern blues genre. Championed by Walter Trout since inviting him on stage in 2008, he has been compared to all the blues guitar greats. In the words of Mr Trout "...sounds like a guy who's been at it for forty years... he has an incredible gift." A truly expressive guitar player.

Stay tuned for posts on the rest of this years' line up.
