In recent times Defected has done a great job of connecting with its underground roots. They’ve taken the music of the likes of Nick Curly, Hot Since 82 and Yousef to a wider audience without compromising the values of the artists, a refreshing move for a major label, but their latest collaboration is still unexpected and exciting in equal measure. The next Defected in the House will be mixed by Loco Dice.
The mix will be spread over two discs, reigning in selections by Kyle Hall, Skudge, Glimpse, Diplo, Marcel Dettmann and the man himself, and interestingly bolstered by four brand new and unreleased Desolat exclusives. As anyone who has seen the German DJ in action will testify, his sound is uncompromising but at the same time fearlessly funky, and as this teaser video implies, he won’t be allowing anyone to pigeonhole his sound.
Both Loco and Defected have frantic summers ahead in Ibiza, Loco setting out on his own with new party Used & Abused at Ushuaia and Defected in the House scheduled in for new club Bomba in Ibiza Town. Dice will also be making appearances at both Cocoon at Amnesia and Carl Cox at Space over the summer, but if you can’t wait then closer to home he will be at the SW4 Festival on the August Bank Holiday.
