Things are well and truly heating up in the capital.

And while our days are filled with bike rides in parks, picnics by the river and strawberries on Henman Hill, the months of July and August see the night times get even hotter, with a packed out summer schedule of huge dance events.

Here's our pick of some of the best dance events happening in the capital over the next couple of months:

South West Four
London’s huge outdoor dance event  SW4 returns to Clapham Common on August Bank Holiday weekend, this year spreading from one to two days and bringing with it arguably the finest electronic line up you’ll see anywhere in the UK this Summer. Headline slots are taken by the mighty Pendulum (full live show) and Underworld, the latter making SW4 their only London appearance of 2011 – with support from some of the biggest names in dance music today. Day one (Saturday 27th August) sees headliners Underworld joined by Above and Beyond, John Digweed, Laidback Luke, Pete Tong, Laurent Garnier, James Zabiela, Ferry Corsten, Hernan Cattaneo, Judge Jules, and SOS. Day two meanwhile (Sunday 28th August) is headlined by Pendulum, who are joined by electronic giants Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Modeselektor, Simian Mobile Disco, Sub Focus Live, Andy C, Joris Voorn and a debut performance by Cirez D.

Clapham Common, August 27-28, tickets are £45 per day or £85 for the entire weekend.

The Gallery Goes Global – with Darren Emerson
World famous DJ and former member of Underworld, Darren Emerson boats a mouth watering back catalogue that translates into a stupendous live show. Since parting company with Underworld, Emerson has enjoyed huge success as a solo DJ,  producer and head of brand new label DETONE. This is a rare appearance for Emerson, whose global touring schedule  rarely allows him to play on UK soil. Joining Darren Emerson will be the sharp sounds of Jerome Isma-Ae, and a warm up by Weekend Heroes.

Ministry of Sound, Friday 8th July, £10

Joining the Brothers Chemical will be a strong line up drawn from the four corners of the dance world, including D&B stars Chase & Status, Mike Skinner’s The Streets, Aphex Twin, Chromeo, Katy B, Janelle Monae, Battles, Devlin, Digitalism, J.Cole, Jay Electronica, Alex Metric, The Whip, Nero, Justin Robertson, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Modestep, Her Majesty And The Wolves, Maverick Sabre, Alpines, Luke Bingham and James Holroyd.

Kinky Malinki
After the sad news that overzealous council officials have cancelled South London Calling festival at which Kinky Mailinki were to appear hosting the main stage,  it’s been announced that a special party at Proud2, The 02, London is to take place instead. For this huge Kinky Malinki event on July 9th, the arches of Proud2 will resonate to the sounds of Australia’s TV Rock, Holland’s Bingo Players and Italy’s Marco Lys. And if things get a little loud indoors, you can head outside to the glamourous new outdoor terrace, with stunning views towards Canary Wharf.
