Loopallu Announce Breaking Artists

Kassidy, Rachel Sermanni and James MacKenzie are the latest acts to join the Loopallu line-up.

Scotland’s hottest new band Kassidy are the latest act to be confirmed for this years Loopallu. Having played a series of sell out gigs, and capacity tents at Belladrum and T in the Park this summer, their ‘Rubbergum Volume 2’ EP was released earlier this month to critical acclaim and their soon to be released debut album is one of the most eagerly anticipated Scottish releases in years. 

Emerging Highland talent has also been added to the bill, including Carrbridge singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni who has been winning over audiences with festival appearances throughout the UK this Summer, including playing to a capacity Grass Roots tent at last month's Belladrum Festival and a winning performance at Wickerman Festival. It’s been a busy year for the 18 year old including tour supports with Stornoway, a show with KT Tunstall, as well as her track ‘My Friend Fire’ being recorded by Mumford and Sons' Ben Lovett and released on the Communion compilation album. 

Final new act for the moment is another Highland act currently making waves, James Mackenzie and the Aquascene who released their debut EP ‘Frase and Phable’ earlier this year.

These new acts join recently announced Saturday night healdliners The Magic Numbers who are set to show the Loopallu audience why they are one of the UK’s favourite festival acts. The remaining headliner is set to be announced early September.

Other acts already announced include an overdue appearance from Scottish indie heroes Idlewild, Turin Brakes making their first ever Highland Festival appearance, wonderful alternative pop from Aberfeldy, Mt Desolation featuring Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin (who are better known in their roles with Keane), BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Best Live Act’ (2010) nominee Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds, local favourites The Vatersay Boys, rising traditional music stars Skerryvore, recent Atlantic Records signing 18 year old Carly Connor,  and the new project from Johnny ‘Pictish Trail’ Lynch and Adem Ilhan (Fridge) Silver Columns.

Situated in the pretty fishing village of Ullapool, on the shores of Loch Broom in the North West Highlands Loopallu is a weekend for all. With activities for all ages and music for all ears, it’s been described as a family gathering you’d actually like to go to!
