They keep on coming these festival announcements. We have now got tickets on sale for Loopallu 2014, Scotland's most unlikely success story on the festival circuit. For the past seven years the soiree has been confounding expectations by rapidly becoming one of the essential destinations on the Scottish circuit year upon year.
The reasons it shouldn't work, it being located nearly 60 miles form the nearest town in a remote village, held at the end of September, simply evaporate when set against the undeniable charm the festival has in abundance. The idyllic location can't be overstated enough, which is coupled with an ability to attract a cavalcade of name that belie the festival's small size.
These include Franz Ferdinand, Mumford & Sons, Paulo Nutini, Jake Bugg, The Buzzcocks, The Undertones and The Magic Numbers, with a strong focus on local talent as well adding to the rustic Gaelic appeal of the soiree. Adult Weekend tickets start at £80 (£65 without) and there's a few other options all detailed here.
