With just two weeks remaining and the last few day tickets just released, Download 2006 announce that Finland’s LORDI, having just won the Eurovision Song Contest with their arockalyptic anthem ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’, will return to the festival to play the Gibson Guitar/MySpace.com stage prior to Sickofitall on Sunday 11 June.

Lordi made their Download debut in 2005 and their 2006 performance will be a triumphant return as their only UK appearance. Also announced this week are Californian extreme outfit Wicked Wisdom who are out to create music that defies boundaries and convention. Fronted by Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett-Smith (Collateral, Matrix Revelations and Reloaded, Ali) Wicked Wisdom have been confirmed to play their first UK festival appearance on the main-stage on Friday 9 June.

Final additions this week are Gojira (formerly Godzilla) one of the most extreme bands that the French metal stage has ever known. The band will play the SNICKERS© stage on Friday 9 June. The oddly monikered : ( [Colon Open Bracket] an ‘emoticore’ outfit who have just remixed Funeral For And Friend will play the Gibson Guitar/MySpace.com stage on Saturday 10 June.

As we reach the final bend before the finishing line, it has been confirmed that all tickets for Saturday 10 June are SOLD OUT, and the final day tickets for Friday 9 June and Sunday 11 June have just been released. As previously announced, ALL campsite spaces at the festival have now SOLD OUT.

Further to announcements that Download 2006 will witness more camping than ever, extended opening times and more on-site activity than previous years, www.downloadfestival.co.uk http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk will reveal for the first time the 2006 site-plan on Wednesday 24 May. In a move to enable Download 2006 to provide increased camping space, car parking will now be available across the A453. Buses will be provided to transport guests onto site, and a pedestrian bridge is currently being built over the A453 for improved festival access.

Two new initiatives for this year mean that Download 2006 have teamed up with liftshare.com making sharing transport to Download easier than ever – save money and reduce traffic in one fell swoop – visit www.downloadfestival.co.uk http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk for more info. Secondly the festival has joined up with SITES ON SITE who specialize in providing the best up to the minute technology on site.

SITES ON SITE will provide high-speed internet access within their own decorated marquee, wireless hotspot so that costumers can use laptops already connected to the internet, or bring their own. Also provided is a secure mobile phone charging service for virtually all mobile phones as well as charging facilities for iPods, cameras, laptops and other electronic items. Site On Sites also provide a range of drinks and snacks and will be stocking the daily newspapers.

Adding refreshment to the hot line-up, Brothers Cider have been secured as the official cider sponsor for Download 2006, bringing their unique tasting pear and apple ciders to be enjoyed by the throng of rock fans at the festival! Brothers ciders, made in Somerset are naturally sparkling and light and was launched nationally this year following demand driven by consumers attending the Glastonbury Festival for the past decade making them the ideal refreshing drink to be enjoyed in any field this summer!
