With nearly two years of bringing blistering underground parties to trashy disco basements, stripped back art galleries and an array of disused warehouse across Manchester, the Love Dose crew have long since been plying the discerning rave aficionados with bleeding edge house and techno. Inviting guests like Genius of Time, Tristan da Cunha, Janina, Cottam, PBR Streetgang and most recently Kosme, Love Dose has firmly established itself one of Manchester's most exciting underground club nights.
This month has seen the rave connoisseurs launch their very own imprint, with the inaugural release courtesy of Love Dose residents Wokeye and Josimar.
Having road tested their productions extensively over the past year or so, the two come together for the A side under the moniker Motif for a peak time rave weapon complete with lush soulful chords, chunky, bouncing bass lines, seductive grooves and intelligent synth stabs.
Having already garnered significant praise from the likes of Ben Pearce, Greymatter, DJ EZ, Richy Ahmed, Genius of Time and Crazy P for its cross pollination of tech and deep house sensibilities, the fittingly entitled 'Silicon Serenade' has already been causing damage on dance floors across the country.
Wokeye goes it alone for the B side, who, fresh from working alongside Hot Since 82 and remixing for the increasingly in demand Bipolar Sunshine, unleashes a darker, brooding beast of a record that has been a favourite for the likes of Aus and ApplePips favourite Komon who dropped it in his barnstorming Boiler Rooms set a few weeks back, as well as Justin Martin who said 'Roll The Dice is weird as hell... and I love it. Five out of five!'
The track's off kilter, jazz inflected techno vibe, Charles Bukowski monologue and headspinning central breakdown make for an unnerving and yet irresistible dance floor primed cut that rounds off an impressive start for Manchester's Love Dose imprint.
For the first time ever, Skiddle will be launching it's own record shop for special releases, with Love Dose Records being the first to get involved. Head below to grab your vinyl copy of Motif and Wokeye's Love Dose debut.
