The past few years have seen Lowdown really make its mark on the breaks, techno, and electro scene. With guest headliners ranging from Mo' Wax main man James Lavelle to legendary turntable wizards Scratch Perverts, they've also tapped up the likes of Dub Pistols, Gorgon City, Freestylers and Deekline,
The event has repeatedly delivered the goods, culminating in bagging the Best Small Event award at last years Breakspoll Awards. The 1st of February sees Lowdown enter its fourth year of operations. To mark the occassion two members of breaks royalty have been hooked in to make the celebration something to savour.
First up will be longstanding genre defying unit Plump DJs. With a sound that takes in elements of breaks, techno, electro and bass music, the duo of Andy Gardner and Lee Rous have been in demand since exploding onto the electronic agenda at the start of the century.
Albums like the iconic Eargasm have cemented their status as important to the fabric of British dance music, winning over audiences with their unique crossbreed of styles and influences. Some ten years on from that release and they are still doing the business, their refined output and high octane live performances continuing to strike a chord with underground dance music obsessives.
Joining them will be breaks veteran Elite Force. For 20 years now Simon Shackleton has been mastering his finely tuned craft of delivering sets that showcase the finest in forward thinking dance music across the board. Equally at home playing bracing techno, funk laden breaks or even hedonistic electro, the Elite Force monolith knows exactly what it takes to rock a party, as anyone who was at Wickerman Festival last year will attest to.
Rounding off the birthday celebrations will be Steve Thorpe, Resistance, Mark McIver, Nick Howard as well as the always impressive VJ skills of Meat Cassette. Head here for your Lowdown 4th Birthday tickets.
