When you picture terrace raves and open air parties, you're normally limited to those sort of gatherings you've seen on foreign soil - big roofless clubs in Ibiza, intimate beach stages in Croatia or heritage hideouts in cities like Barcelona. But Liverpool's got its own space of the sort which rivals the best - Constellations.

The renovated warehouse courtyard has been transformed from an industrial square to an enchanting multi-use venue which caters perfectly for an alfresco rave. The swooping canopy covers, wooden structures and greenery mean this Baltic Triangle space is a world away from the urban depths of Liverpool centre.

The additional streams of fake florals and encompassing lighting made a real difference to the venue's key features - the added attention to detail provided by promoters MODU:LAR, who kicked off their open air party venture with a line up which wouldn't go amiss from the White Isle - tINI, JuliettaFunk E and Piticu.

Perched on benches, chatting with a drink or deep within the crowd, there was no pressure as attendees took the night at their own pace. It's funny what a bit of fresh air and an afternoon start time can do to the overall feel of a party. And as Funk E and Piticu revved the engines of most attendees, the tent covering the decks began to slowly began to swell with people.

Julietta began her all vinyl set shortly after, wasting no time getting stuck into minimalistic, chugging techno beats. A fair few Shazam attempts were unfruitful, leaving her hidden gems as exactly that. The crimson lighting, becoming more and more intense as the sun began to set, transformed the previously mellow space into a tribal jungle backdrop as the night picked up pace.

An impromptu move inside later in the evening meant that the previously outdoor scheduled set from tINI was moved indoors to the warehouse main room. Kitted out with more MODU:LAR magic, including hanging letters spelling out the event's name. It was like a completely different event, two for the price of one almost.

Indoors everything felt a lot moodier. The lighting was sparse as tINI tucked into raw drums and ferocious beats, stretching from the darker end of the techno spectrum right through to the atmospheric end of house. A suitable big finish for an undeniably successful day party.

Liverpool is fortunate to have quality promoters like MODU:LAR as part of its scene, and even luckier to have a space like Constellations on its doorstep.
