For the second consecutive year, Manchester promoters Now Wave and Strange Days collaborate to bring the best in psych and garage to the city in a day long weird happening of live music. Last year saw psych gods King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard headline a near sold-out Manchester Ritz, along with The Wytches, The Big Moon and many more.
Coming from New York, post-punk garage quartet Parquet Courts are to fill the headline slot this year. They'll be bringing their art punk riffs and fuzzy drones to complete a day of what promises to be a noisy and chaotic affair. This performance comes after the release of their fifth studio album Human Performance, which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Recording Package.
With Strange Waves taking place over two floors of the venue, joining the psych trip of the season will be London Trouble in Mind signed duo Ultimate Painting, self-proclaimed soft punk five piece Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever as well as fellow duo Omni, singer songwriter Laurel, and indie rock Canadian outfit Nap Eyes.
