Since announcing his arrival in underground house and techno scene with the cracking 'The Fall' back in 2011, Mark Fanciulli has gone on to prove himself as one of electronic music's most rounded, complete artists and DJs, with a seemingly endless run of floor focused cuts finding themselves in the record bags of the scenes most established pioneers.

We grab five minutes with the tech powerhouse ahead of his return for Rubix in Liverpool on the 21st.

Hi Mark. thanks for speaking to us. Saved has made 100 releases this year... how proud are you to have been part of that project?

It is a project that I was immensely proud to be a part of. Working with the label for so many years and then collaborating on a big project like this was just such a nice feeling.

Every release has always been a joy to work with but this was was just something else. It took a very long time, many months of planning speaking to artists, production plants, marketing teams and the odd natural delay but it was all worth it.

You've also got an EP out currently on Planet E, can you tell us some more about that? And how much do you respect Carl Craig's vision with the label?

The EP is called 'Chord Kaoss' and has the title track on the A side and 'Helsinki' on the flip.  The A side is a very punchy straight up techno record whereas 'Helsinki' comes on a more deep and techy edge.

I was so exciting when I got some interest from the label and having an EP on a label like Planet E is a real dream come true. Carl has an amazing ear, and the labels output has always been so finely tuned that it was a real honour to release this with them.

What other production news can you let us in on?

The next release I have is called 'The Fall' and will be coming on Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity imprint. It's more of a vocal house number which will be accompanied by remixes from Nasser Baker and Phil Weeks (above).

Following on from that I will have a release coming on Inmotion which features remixes from two very talented artists, Rod Malmok and Nikola Gala which i’m really excited about. Later releases in the summer and to the close to the year will be coming on Carl Cox’s 'Intec' and also Coyu’s 'Suara' label, so there’s a lot going on!

On to the topic of gigs, you're playing in Liverpool shortly. You played much in the city before? What have you thought to it?

I have only ever played in Liverpool once before and that was in March last year for the Rubix launch. Other than that I have been out as a clubber in Liverpool and every time I’ve experienced the city it has presented a warm friendly atmosphere with a great energy.

The team behind Rubix is made up of a great bunch of lads and I’ve always wanted to return to one of their shows and with it being their biggest one to date, it makes it even more special.

We've also clocked a boat party in London... are these gigs always fun for you when you get to do something a bit different?

That was also the first boat party I’ve ever been able to play on and was nonstop fun. We were also really lucky with the weather that day and I don’t think you can get much of a better backdrop than the city of London.

Whenever I’ve been on a boat party there is a different feeling on board. It feels a lot more fun than a straight up club, perhaps because they’re not as often as a club show, and with many of them running in the day people always have the night and other plans to look forward to later.

Ibiza season is now under way. How big is this time of year for you, and have you got anything lined up you can reveal yet?

It is a very big fixture in my year like in any DJ.  I’m playing quite a bit on the island this year which i’m really excited about. In particular Defected at Booom, and for La Familia at Ushuaia in September.

Any festivals this summer?

In September I will be playing the Social festival in Maidstone which is organised by my brother. Last year was its first time and I know its biased coming from me but if its half as good as it was then, we’re going to be in for a fun time.

All the right ingredients are there for it. A great location, perfect lineup, and the crowd last year made it what it was.  I’m looking forward to festival season this year, as it gives you an opportunity to play in a much different setting.

And finally, you've been given two things by a record label for your next artist album, an unlimited budget and a fully working delorean. You can go back and grab any musician, dead or alive, from any any period in their career, to do this with you. What's the roll call going to be, and what is the music going to sound like?

The first thing that springs to mind would be to go back and work with Electronic producers from the early 90s. I would like to sit in the studio and pick the brains of artists like LFO and Joey Beltram and see how their minds think. They were making so much groundbreaking stuff.

I would also like to perhaps go a little further back and work with Kraftwerk.
