The hugely popular Mawdesley festival will play host to over 20 bands over the course of August 23rd-25th. Underneath the towering windmills of the iconic festival site will be the likes of Edinburgh based sonic pioneers Shooglenifty, whose unique fusion of traditional Scottish music with electronica and rock have seen them in demand both in the UK and beyond. The 6 piece have been making waves in the world of forward thinking traditional music since their debut in 1994, and continue to push the boundaries of the medium.

Other highlights across the weekend will be the arrival of Wigan based pop rock outfit Boomin, Kiss Of The Gypsy (read our Kiss of the Gypsy article here), the ever impressive folk duo of Gilmore & Roberts, local hero Chris Bannister, Slither, and Rock FM’s favourite jock Danny Bee.

Of course it’s not just about the music, Methusala has a staggering additional line up of art, entertainment, kids activities, a full on festival market, and real ale and cider bars.
Also announced is the inauguration of Methusala’s very own Mardi Gras. You can either make your own costumes and bring them along, or hire on site. Either way, Mawdesley will be alive with the carnival spirit, as Methusala once again pulls out all the stops to maintain its crown as Lancashire’s favourite family festival.
