Saturday 28th February sees UK Drum and Bass biggest and best event brand, Metropolis, alongside one of nu-rave and electros favourite promoters, Wax:On, keep up appearances with yet another ceiling crumbling affair. Housed inside Exposed magazines Best Live Venue of 2008, Sheffield Academy, over 2000 electronic music revelers will be brought together for a line up comprising of some of the biggest names around. Legendary Radio One DJ and serious clubbers favourite Annie Mac, amazing breaks act Krafty Kuts, the seemingly unstoppable Dubstep duo Chase and Status and huge stars Evil 9, Kano and Benga will all take to the stage to smash the bass apart
Needing no introduction is the phenomenal musical force, Annie Mac. Hosting two shows on Radio One as well as constant touring around the world, this lady pioneers new music from all genres and never fails to pack out any gig she plays. With an incredible back catalogue of achievements and endless support and praise from huge DJs the world over, she is an immense figure in the music scene and a regular headliner at all the biggest nights around. A dizzyingly good set awaits...
Legendary Breaks DJ Krafty Kuts has carved out a name for himself as one of the most popular DJs in his genre. With a career that has seen him share the decks with everyone from Fatboy Slim to Roni Size, receive a frankly ridiculous amount of accolades the world over and collaborations with some of musics biggest stars including Tim Deluxe and Dr. Luke, you can expect to see him cutting and scratching his way effortlessly through the night.
Chase and Status are two stars rising through the Drum and Bass and Dubstep ranks at an unmatched pace. Already notching up appearances on various charts, they are firmly on the lips of the biggest DJs and producers around today. The last two years have seen them tour non stop, tirelessly smashing out jaw dropping sets at the coolest venues and parties around.
Brighton breaks duo Evil Nine have been working together since 1998. In these past 10 years they have had huge success both within their genre and in the mainstream, thanks to collaborations with huge brands such as Fabric, and remixing a diverse range of artists from Timo Maas to UNKLE. It is this awesome ability to push the boundaries of breakbeat that has led to their widespread acclaim and notability, and after releases, remixes, and tours all over the world, they have firmly landed to become one of the scenes most famed DJ set ups.
After a lengthy career that saw Kano make a big dent in the mainstream music scene with his single Ps and Qs, lately hes been getting back to his roots. Hailing from London and being involved in the east London grime scene since his teens, Kano is one of the original champions of the sound with a huge fan base to show for it, and is sure to deliver a mammoth, bass breaking performance.
Fusing South Londons dub with East Londons grime, Benga has been important in the development of this ever more popular dubstep sound. A part of Big Apple Records alongside such artists as Skream, his releases have received much praise from fellow musicians, and his profile is expanding rapidly to make him one of the most exciting producers and performers in his field.
With a line up of this scale taking over one of Northern Englands coolest venues, Metropolis have set up a night ready to cause enough noise to last until summer. One hell of a party awaits, prepare for the bass line.
