Bestival will be getting it's freak on, as the news comes in that their final headliner this year will be none other than Missy Elliot. She'll join Underworld, Duran Duran and The Chemical Brothers to complete the festivals complete roster of 2015 headliners on the bill Rob Da Bank curates - see the full Bestival line up.
The musical trendsetter was, alongside Timbaland, arguably the most innovative force on mainstream urban music in the late nineties and early twenty first century. As well as being integral in the career of the late Aaliyah, she added her space age sonics to the everyone from poppy soul starlets Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, to rap lynchpins Busta Rhymes and Jay-Z.
She's also an enigmatic and highly visual performer; this year making a surprise star turn at the Superbowl. It follows a long legacy that includes the still jaw droppingly brilliant video to 'The Rain' above, a stone cold classic of the shiny suit era of hip hop and R&B merging. Big up Bestival delivering a curveball here.
