August see's a huge trio of house wizards arrive at Nextdoor in Birmingham on August 8th as part of Mixmag's Live weekender in anticipation of this year's Zoo Project Festival.
The brand new venue set in Birmingham's Rainbow Complex is already getting a rep for providing mind blowing experiences thanks to its backdrop of trippy visuals and ingenious production, something that Blackdot have been working to maximum effect.
Spinning some silky groove laden house on the night will be Wolf Record's very own Medlar, whose ability to combine emotive jazz tones with slices of hip hop to create sample heavy experimental house movers has made him one of house music's most exciting talents. See some of that in his performance below.
Another explorer of multiple genres is Pedestrian, whose crafting of delectable immersive beats has seen his productions snapped up by the likes of Brownswood boss Gilles Peterson, who signed his 'Hei Poa' (above), kicking off a run of releases that found homes on labels like Push and Run, 2nd Drop and even Goldie's Metalheadz imprint.
Rounding up the ensemble of hypnotic house wizardry is a Leeds based producer Youandewan, whose talents first came to light with the sublime '1988' (above) which gave an inkling as to the breadth of his vision as a producer. He's since sprung out tracks on acclaimed labels Hypercolour and 2nd Drop, whilst his DJing talents continue to be called in by the most discerning underground nights.
Its looking like another classic from Blackdot, who along with the always impressive Mixmag Live have set up a party to perfectly hype us up for Zoo Project Festival's welcome return. Grab your tickets here.
