Mixtape Fridays in October

One of the south coast's prime weekend haunts, Mixtape never fails to disappoint with its cavalry of cutting edge artists whipping up a storm on the Solent every Friday without fail. October is no different with a trio of blistering artists heading up proceedings at Southampton's Orange Rooms in the lead up to the freakishly monumental Halloween bash at the end of the month. 

Monki October 3rd

As September passes over the baton to the autumnal months, Radio One's Monki wades us into October for the first Mixtape on Friday on the 3rd.

The youthful dance music talent still has the world at her feet, yet she has already achieved so much (read our recent interview with her here). When she's not riding the bull as head honcho at Zoo Music, the talented producer who's recently released her second Monki & Friends EP, can be found plying her trade behind the decks (hear some of that above) for her Radio One residency or going one better touring as resident of 'Annie Mac presents'. Two Door Cinema Club October 10th

The following week sees indie maestros Two Door Cinema Club in a slightly unusual setting, manning the controls for their exclusive DJ set, as they swap their instruments for the 1s and 2s (check a short clip of that below) to thread together a sublime selection of tracks that will undoubtedly amount to a cracking night - Get tickets for that here.

DJ Johni Parker October 17th

Keeping things in full of flow for the third Mixtape Friday of the month is revered resident DJ Johni Parker dipping into his bottomless box of vinyl delights to deliver a barnstorming set wedged with classics from a multitude of genres. Bag tickets for that here.

Halloween with Alex The Kidd October 31st

They couldn't have timed their final fling with October any better, with the last Mixtape of the month landing on Halloween, and what a treat they have in store with major hip hop selector Alex The Kidd soundtracking the night.

It's a given that whatever Alex The Kidd touches turns to gold. After cutting his teeth by running of club nights in his younger years, the hip hop supremo boasts a bunch of revered nights to his name, not to mention his banquet of highly sought after bootleg remixes and mixtapes that keeps hip hop and breaks aficionados coming back for more.
