Few venues hold the affections of the Liverpool rave elite quite The Magnet. The topsy turvy recent history has only added to the charm of a venue which has been at the forefront of the cultural movements of the city - a young Freddie Mercury earned his stripes playing in the venue's former name The Sink back in the sixties, with counter culture being a firm part ever since.
It recently opened and coming on board are young tyros Modula:ar, the underground house aand techno aficionados who relocate from their Baltic brilliance to gift the famed location a groove paradise, replete with a killer line up.
When someone as vital to dance music as Fabric main man Craig Richards gives his seal of approval to an artist, you know that they must be something special. Sam Russo is just that - one seriously talented gent that has been blazing through the house and minimal underground with a prolific run of groove filled, nuanced records.
With his regular releases on scene leading labels like Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom, Air London and German deep house imprint OFF, Sam Russo continues to forge exciting creations that have found themselves into the record bags of some of the scene's most decisive figures.
Minimal and underground house experts Modu:lar have understandably jumped on the chance to bring the young producer's emerging talents to The Magnet's rave basement in Liverpool on Saturday 24th May. Just get your ears around his devilishly groove laden, spooky, bass fueled and meticulously crafted mix for Craig Richards Nothing Special brand above to understand the justified hype around this guy. Grab your Modu:lar tickets here.
