Modu:lar returns after a blistering opening party which saw the brand new Liverpool night showcased a spectrum of performance styles and sub genres, announcing it's arrival in the Merseyside city. This time out, the night seeks to focus its attention on one extended set of striking proportions, from none other than Romanian minimalist Rhadoo.
When it comes to the minimal house scene, few enjoy the same status as Radu Bogdan Cilinca, AKA Rhadoo. Having come to the fore in his home country of Romania back in 1995 with a series of eccentric gigs that saw his talent and DJing prowess shine, it wasn't long before Rhadoo was enjoying residencies at clubs like Karma, Zerrilos, and later Ibiza's iconic DC10.
With a tantelising sound that combines warm, strong basslines encapsulated in a sparsely atmospheric guise that is intoxicating in all the best ways (as heard in his mix above), Rhadoo has carved his own niche in dance music, with his productions finding homes on Romanian label Understand, as well as Luciano's scene leading Cadenza imprint (below).
His recent Fabric72 mix saw Rhadoo really flex his might, with a meticulously composed mix that saw him champion some of the finest stripped back Romanian techno and house, bringing the vibrant scene to the attention of the masses. Rhadoo's join venture with Cocoon favourite Raresh and Pedro, [a:rpia:r], has seen the arrival a record label which sustains a level of notoriety not just by generating a hype, but for the pure quality of its sound - which translates across sub genres and international borders alike.
Rhadoo's upcoming arrival at The Garage on April 4th is eagerly anticipated then, as he prepares to bring his dubby, blissful, seductive minimal techno and house sound to Liverpool's discerning rave hordes.
