"Bigmouth strikes again" could very soon be an aside legendary front-man Morrissey uses to mock political opponents as opposed to being crooned in a chorus, as the news has come in he has been approached to stand as the Animal Welfare Party candidate - and he's seemingly up for it.
His distaste with the treatment of animals has never been far from his ideas, The Smiths' 1985 sophomore release was famously titled Meat is Murder, but musicians have a difficult time straying into politics. Wyclef Jean was widely ridiculed during his attempts to run for the presidency of Haiti, while closer to homer former Blur drummer Dave Rowntree failed in his bid to a Labour party councillor in 2007.
