One of the biggest groups of the Motown movement, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas will launch Manchester's Soul Town event at Albert Hall on Saturday 22nd July.
Signed to Motown offshoot Gordy Records, the group released classics including '(Love Is Like a) Heatwave' and 'Dancing in the Street', which catapulted them to worldwide commercial success, as well as cementing their legacy as one of the most important artists of the 60s soul scene.
Confirmed as a special guest on the evening is one of the UK's most respected DJs, Norman Jay MBE. Known for his contribution to the country's club culture, Jay has been DJing since the early 80s and co-founded radio station Kiss FM. On the night, he will be spinning Northern Soul and mod classics.
Joining them will be Northern Soul frontrunner and Wigan Casino resident DJ Russ Winstanley, Blackpool Mecca's Colin Curtis and selector Alan King. Manchester's Black Bee Soul Club DJs will be keeping the dance floor alive with the rarest records until the early hours.
