The post-Halloween blues are kicking in a bit for the Skiddle crew. Perhaps you feel the same. Or maybe it’s just a hangover, who knows! But, with Bonfire Night on the way, at least we have another autumn celebration to look forward to.

If you’re not the biggest fan of the colder months, we feel you. But this week’s New On Skiddle gives you some great events to make the autumn and winter as good as it can be while helping you plan a brilliant summer 2025 with more ace events. 

This week we’ve got Bloc Party taking over Brighton Beach, NRG’s New Year’s Eve special with 9x9, Ben Sims in Liverpool, Creamfields 2025, the final edition of Balter Festival, t e s t p r e s s playing all night long in Edinburgh, LESSSS tearing it up in Glasgow, Coloursfest, and more. Stunning.

NRG NYE Special - 999999999, Cadzow + more

When: Tuesday 31st December 2024 (New Year's Eve)

Where: SWG3 in Glasgow

NRG (New Rave Generation), founded by PRTY and Reboot, is coming through with a massive New Year’s Eve party in Glasgow, which might be the best NYE offering of the year. 

All about those harder sounds, they’ve enlisted fan favourites 999999999 as headliners for this party that kicks off at 9pm until 3am. Joining the Italian duo will be Scotland’s Cadzow - a DJ who just keeps getting bigger - and DKEN. And more names are still to be announced! 

Expect hard dance, hard trance, techno, psytrance, and hardstyle sounds for a very heavy, very sweaty introduction to 2025. Just a warning: most tickets have already flown out…

Stack City presents Multunes

When: Saturday 28th December 2024

Where: SWG3 in Glasgow

Multunes comes to SWG3, back to where it all started, in December. The plan was to return to Glasgow in 2025 but after seeing all the buzz from Multunes’ last show, they needed to fit in one more before the year ends. 

Multunes plays all night from 10:30pm until 3am. You can expect the Irish DJ to blast through trance, techno, old skool, hard dance, and club classics. Tickets are running low, so you know what to do!

909 x Liverpool Techno Scene - Ben Sims

When: Friday 7th February 2025

Where: Wav in Liverpool

909 partners up with Liverpool Techno Scene to bring Ben Sims to one of Liverpool’s best underground clubs

909 always listens to their loyal fanbase when it comes to bookings. After Sims’ name came up over and over again, they simply had to bring the legend back. Making a huge impact on the scene, Sims’ sets always bring the best energy, with plenty of funky vibes. 

Dominating the techno scene since the early 90s, Sims is an underground icon with decades of experience in getting crowds moving. As such, you know he’ll destroy this set.

The Lilacs: The 369 (To Forever) tour  

When: multiple dates in March and April 2025 

Where: venues in Hull, Sheffield, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, and Liverpool 

One of Wigan's finest indie pop exports in recent years, The Lilacs are killing it despite being together for just a few years. 

Racking up over half a million streams since they started dropping music in 2019, the lads have generated a lot of buzz. They've gone from smashing gigs around the northwest to taking their sound to some of the UK’s best indie fests including Truck and Y Not?.  

With a solid cult following, the band has got a big future ahead of them. And if you haven’t heard of them yet, perhaps this is the time to take the plunge, grab a ticket, and maybe discover your new favourite indie band!

Elation: TESTPRESS ALL NIGHT LONG

When: Saturday 7th December 2024

Where: The Liquid Room in Edinburgh

Edinburgh techno brand Elation brings Aberdeen duo testpress to The Liquid Room, one of the best clubs in Edinburgh, for a big ol’ all-night-long set of techno and trance. 

The DJ and production duo, now based in Glasgow, are known for their high-energy techno and trance sets, gaining support from Patrick Topping, VTSS, TSHA, and more, securing themselves a global following. Having had residencies at Sub Club and FLY CLUB, plus big tracks ‘U’ and ‘FORZ4’, the duo is ready for global domination with tours in the UK and Australia set.

DISFUNCTION: LESSSS - Omaks - Caravel

When: Friday 7th February 2025

Where: SWG3 in Glasgow

DISFUNCTION RAVE is back with another belter (are you surprised? We certainly aren’t - they never miss), taking over the lovely SWG3. This time, they bring France’s LESSSS for her biggest headline set yet. 

Working her way up in the European hard techno scene, LESSSS has become a favourite of many, grafting by playing some incredible sets with brands like Teletech and PRTY. For this one, which runs from 10pm to 3am, she’ll be joined by other huge names, Omaks, Caravel, and Glasgow’s Jude Bradshaw.  

Expect hard techno, hard trance, and some splashes of other genres like hardstyle. It's about to get sweaty!

Craig David - Colchester Castle Summer Series

When: Saturday 16th August 2025

Where: Colchester Castle in Colchester

Craig David, known for hits like ‘7 Days’, ‘Insomnia’, ‘Walking Away’, and more, comes to the gorgeous Colchester Castle in the summer of 2025 for an open-air gig, presenting his party TS5. 

A legend in R&B, if you know anything about the genre, you’ll be familiar with him and his discography. He performs as part of The Colchester Castle Summer Series, bringing a bunch of special guests along with him. He’ll be joined by Wes Nelson, 24hr Garage Girls, and Patrick Nazemi, for tunes spanning R&B, pop, soul, and UKG. 

Boasting a massive lineup, a stunning location, multiple genres, and (hopefully) great weather, it’s going to be fantastic.

TTF - The Time Frequency

When: Saturday 21st June 2025

Where: OVO Hydro in Glasgow

Scottish dance group The Time Frequency returns to the Hydro after a sold-out show last year, and they’re bringing a bunch of fantastic support along with them.

Joining them will be Alice Deejay, who you'll know from her massive, timeless track 'Better Off Alone'. There’s also Sweden’s ‘Now You’re Gone’ producer Basshunter, Dr. Alban, the man behind 'It's My Life' and 'Sing Hallelujah!'; plus DJ Sammy, Real McCoy, Technotronic ft. MC Eric, Livin Joy ft. Luzahhn, Ultrabeat, and more, including artists TBA. 

Standing and seated tickets are available. Under-14s are permitted in the seated section with an adult over 18.

On The Beach 2025 - Bloc Party

When: Sunday 20th July 2025

Where: Brighton Beach in Brighton

On The Beach returns in the summer, bringing Bloc Party, a fantastic indie band that dominated the noughties, to close the first weekend of the OTB events. They'll be performing their much-adored platinum-selling debut album Silent Alarm, released in 2005, along with their greatest hits. 

Highly rated by critics and music fans alike, the album landed on NME's 100 Greatest British Albums Ever list. The album features indie bangers like 'Helicopter', 'Banquet', ‘Like Eating Glass’, and ‘So Here We Are’, all with millions of streams on Spotify. Many would say it’s their magnum opus. 

And since they’re playing their greatest hits too, you can also expect tracks like ‘Flux’ and ‘Hunting For Witches’, amongst others. It’s going to be another fantastic show on the beach, hopefully with plenty of sunshine to tie it all together.

Balter Festival

When: Thursday 22nd - Sunday 25th May 2025

Where: Chepstow Racecourse in Chepstow

Self-described “UK’s maddest small festival”, Balter Festival returns on the Spring bank holiday weekend next for its eleventh and final edition. Yep, if you haven’t already, this is your last chance to enjoy what this crazy little dest has to offer. 

Balter - meaning to dance clumsily but with enjoyment - is all about having as much fun as you can. Throw your inhibitions out the window and join them to dance to the sounds of bass music, DnB, jungle, garage, hardstyle, ska, punk, and more.

Coloursfest 2025

When: Saturday 2nd August 2025

Where: Braehead Arena in Glasgow

Colours, one of the biggest music promoters in Scotland, is back with their huge, much-loved festival, Coloursfest, in August next year. Once again blessing Glasgow with the harder sounds, they’ve already announced some names who’ll be on the decks at next year’s bash. 

So far, the lineup for this one features Showtek with a hardstyle set, Darren Styles, Dimitri K, Partyraiser, and Rebelion. It’s already looking glorious and many more names are still to be announced! 

If you're all about those hardcore, hardstyle, old skool, and trance sounds, a trip to Coloursfest was bound to happen at some point. And with super early bird tickets and a payment plan option to spread the ticket cost, there really is no better time to go for it.

Rockstar Energy presents Creamfields Festival 2025

When: Thursday 21st - Sunday 24th August 2025

Where: Daresbury in Cheshire
