North Hertfordshire venue put on Crowdfunder to avoid closure

It’s never nice to hear that one of your faves is on the brink of closure, especially when it has provided you with so many good memories over the years, and remains a solid option as your local. 

However, that is exactly what is happening to Club85. Based in North Hertfordshire, Club85 is a venue known for holding incredible shows and is labelled as an Iconic Grassroots Music Venue. 

Starting 23 years ago, Club85 has grown into a successful live music venue, putting on a constant programme of performances; large, small, local, international and more. With 3000+ shows under their belt, plus 10,000 band performances, Club85 has provided opportunities for musicians to play on their amazing stage. 

And we don’t want it to end there for them. 

Therefore they have set up a crowdfunding to keep Club85 open. With an immediate goal of £30,000, they are hoping to get the ball rolling to keep the venue afloat. However, they have also set up a main plan which would require £2-2.2 million so that Club85 can be fully bought. To do that, there will be fundraising events, more crowd funders and prize draws, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company to purchase and run the venue; plus donations and a share sale; which allows everyone to invest in Club85. 

Club85 is only at the beginning of its journey, with major plans for the future if they are able to stay open. From more daytime classes to workshops, and exhibitions, as a rehearsal space or for shooting videos. Plus with plans to expand on their inclusivity and become a quirky music bar/lounge, with sofas, a small stage, piano, congas and chilled alternative music; it’d be a shame to watch it close. 

However, if you do want to support a good cause you are in luck. To donate you can find their crowdfunder - here. So far they have raised just over half away with £15,585 sitting nicely in the pot. And you can donate as little or as much as you’d like, because no matter what every little helps!
