Following January's focus on the ever impressive Manchester live music specialists, we peer into what February has in store for Now Wave, as their continued championing of exciting, cutting edge, under the radar artists and bands continues to impress.

Fanfarlo // Feb 9th

The 9th of February sees post rock, folk and indie impresarios Fanfarlo headline at The Deaf Institute. Already having worked with labels like Fortuna POP!, Moshi Moshi and White Heat, Fanfarlo were eventuially picked up by Atalntic on the the strength of their self released debut, which was incidentally adored by both NME and The Skinny, drawing comparisons to Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear and Beirut.

Two albums later, and their sound continues to be packed to the rafters with depth, texture and sweeping crescendos, showcasing a unique blend of disparate styles that makes them an exciting live prospect.

Parquet Courts // 15th Feb

Now Wave favourites Parquet Courts return on the 15th of Feb following on form a show stopping sell out apperance last October. The energetic New Yorkers moved from the shadows upon release of their critically lauded debut 'Light Up Gold' back in 2012, drawing huge praise from the likes of Q magazine, The New York Times, Spin and Pitchfork, not to mention NME, who exclaimed it as “one of the best debut albums you’ll hear all year”.

Their singular sonic vision evokes elements of The Fall, Neil Young and Pavement combined with an all important vibrance and energy, making them edgy and yet accesible. This is bound to be another sellout.

Speedy Ortiz // Feb 16th

Speedy Ortiz make their long awaited Manchester debut in the 16th of February. With a sound that combines the kind of pop nous shown by The Bangles with generous lashings of distortion, feedback, fuzz and delay, Speedy Ortiz have struck upon a formula that is as intoxicating as it is addictive. Debut long player 'Major Arcana' is a captivating display of melodic dexterity, with beauty colliding with discordant oddness resulting in a whirlwind display of fresh thinking and technical superiority. Simply sublime.

Of Montreal // Feb 19th

Of Montreal are next on Now Wave's hitlist. Notoriously illusive to categorising due to their incessantly brave genre hopping and experimentation, of Montreal have somehow maintained an immense quality alongside their eclecticism that has prompted critical plaudits from the likes of Filter, describing front man Kevin Barnes as a "brilliantly daring artist".

With a sound that slowly unveils itself to you with repeated exposure, of Montreal can justifiably claim to be a band you need to experience at least once.

Bonobo DJ Set // Feb 28th

Now Wave bring February to a close with one of electronic music's most prominent figureheads - Bonobo. Don't worry if you've missed out on tickets to his now sold out live appearance at Albert Hall, as Bonobo main man Simon Green will be heading over to the wonderfully intimate Roadhouse venue afterwards for an unmissable DJ set.

We know Simon Green is a supremely talented producer and instrumentalist, but you might be unaware he is an extremely accomplished DJ to boot. Just check out his appearance at Boiler Room (above) to get a taster for what's in store. This will be a great chance to hear some of Green's favourite records, influences, and even unreleased unheard material from Green himself in an exclusive setting.
