Now Wave have a supremely busy schedule over the next few months, with a reliably impressive line up of under the radar, cutting edge artists making their way to some of Manchester's coolest venues. We've had a look ahead to see what the tireless touts of quality live music have in store for September.
Hitting up Band On The Wall on September 2nd will be a very rare performance indeed from Perfume Genius. The Seattle based indie pop impresario has in his relatively short career been honing a sound that combines dreamy pop with shoegazey guitars and phat synth drones, resulting in support slots for the likes of Gold Panda, Mount Kimbie and Beirut.
With his sophomore LP Too Bright due for release on Sept 23rd (check out his first release form the album 'Queen' above), this will be an unmissable chance to witness his very latest sonic musings live and in the flesh. Get your Perfume Genius tickets here.
Now Wave head under the aqueduct to Gorilla on September 17th, with London born, Vienna based electronic pop powerhouse Sohn in the driving seat.
Starting out with a grasp of guitar and piano, Sohn relocated to the Austrian capital in 2010 and soon found himself caught up in the city's burgeoning electronic scene.
With his first two releases being made through Soundcloud back in 2012, Sohn's marrying of melancholic melodies and crisp, shimmering electronics soon saw him snapped by the always on point 4AD label, which has since been his creative home. Expect to be mesmerised by his reflective, sorrowful yet strangely uplifting sensibilities. Get your Sohn tickets here.
Taking over Manchester's Deaf Institute on Sept 27th are London electropop outfit Woman's Hour. The quartet have been making all sorts of noise with their sedated, meditative take on blissful, organic pop music, which saw them signed to Secretly Canadian earlier this year.
Their debut LP Conversations combines all the ambience and atmosphere of Kranky artist such as Stars Of The Lid and Tim Hecker, whilst its splashes of pop lie somewhere in between that of St Etienne and The XX, resulting in something else entirely. Prepare to be thoroughly hypnotised. Get your Woman's Hour tickets here.
The Now Wave crew team up with Manchester rave dons Warehouse Project to bring the quirky electronic dance music of SBTRKT to Manchester's Albert Hall on the 30th.
We've already spoken of our excitement for SBTRKT's set there, plus what we're likely to witness on his brand new LP (particularly after hearing New Drop. New York above) - safe to say his gig will be a rip-roaring journey through a myriad of genres all given that irresistible SBTRKT treatment. This one will be massive. SBTRKT tickets are available here.
