For their third event of the year on May 20th, the trance night Off the Rails has gathered a huge line-up of British talent for the OTR UK Showcase.
2011 is proving to be another huge year for OTR. January’s ‘Journey through Trance night’ was one of their most popular events to date, and was followed by the ’4th Birthday Extravaganza’ in February. With OODB, JOOF, Signum, Ben Nicky, Hiddenagenda and Mike Beaumopnt, new decor, lasers and pyrotechnics it was truly one memorable night!
And May’s event will be no different, with an enviable line-up of some of the biggest names in UK trance gathered together under one roof.
Headline act for the night is non other than Mr Simon Patterson. Currently ranked #28 in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll 2010, Simon Patterson is an artist who has confirmed his elevation into the trance super-league with a series of white-hot productions and jaw dropping DJ performances. As a keen advocate that musically it’s about creating experiences, it is easy to see why Patterson was invited by world number #1 DJ Armin van Buuren for his ASOT400 and ASOT 450 gigs showcase the very best talent in the scene. The last 12 months has also seen Simon close the main stage at the world renowned Trance Energy in front of 25,000 trance fans. Following an explosive performance at the OTR 3rd birthday, this is certainly a welcome return to the decks for Simon Patterson.
Another man making his OTR return is the former Sheffield based trance legend, Matt Hardwick. With his elevation to resident DJ at Gatecrasher being the first of many landmark achievements in his career, Matt's name was soon thrust from the dusty streets of Sheffield to the bright lights of international stardom, playing some of the greatest events the world of clubbing has to offer.
Next up, and making his OTR debut is Belfast-born DJ Greg Downey. Having played the biggest club brands the world has to offer, the defining moment is Greg's career came in 2007 where his remix of John Digweed's 'Heaven Scent' was championed by all the biggest names from Sasha, Eric Prydz, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin and Digweed himself, claiming the number 1 spot on Beatport, Trackitdown and Audiojelly for over a month!
Activa is a man who needs to introduction. Known as one of the hardest working producers in the trance scene, Rob Stevenson has appeared on the likes of Spinnin (Liquid), Discover, High Contrast, Black Hole, Enhanced, Somatic Sense and finally Paul van Dyk’s mighty Vandit Records which has enabled him to push his way into the record boxes of the biggest names in the industry and receive their continuous support. Following a prolific set of spine tingling riffs on the OTR stage at Insomniacz Phase II last October, this is a welcome return for Activa at The Plug.
Neptune Project are another act making their Plug debut for OTR. The trance duo consisting of Dan Willis and Jules Moyce burst onto the electronic scene when their second single, Aztec, was announced on BBC Radio 1 as tune of the summer, by world number one DJ, Armin Van Buuren in July 2009. Since then, the boys have continued producing tunes amongst themselves as well as working with trance household names including Bryan Kearney and Aly & Fila, proving their obvious ear for a symphonic sound.
On resident duty for the evening is HiddenAgenda who are guaranteed to get what promises to be a legendary night rolling with their well-renowned chunky prog sound.
